Enrichment
Enrichment
The Extension ‘SPARKS’ program at Francis Jordan Catholic School recognises the innate dignity of each individual and acknowledges the school’s responsibility to provide enriched instruction for those students of high academic ability. It provides opportunities that enable and encourage students to develop to their full potential.
The aim of the program is to facilitate students’ learning by providing creative, thought provoking and challenging learning opportunities. Students utilise a variety of thinking strategies to assist them in furthering their development. These courses are designed to provide learning opportunities that inspire and challenge high ability students to work to their full potential within a small group of peers who have similar educational needs.
The selection process:
- Children are selected based on their results in the AGAT testing completed at the end of each school year.
- Children who receive the Academic Excellence Award from Year 2 to Year 5, will also be invited to attend ‘SPARKS’.
Across the school and in all learning areas, teachers differentiate the curriculum to meet the needs of all students, develop higher-order thinking skills and provide coursework that continually challenges the students’ mindsets. Teachers regularly assess students to ensure these academic programs meet their needs.
