A Message from the Principal – Issue 11
Dear Parents, Children and Friends,
Welcome back to Term Two. It was terrific to be on morning duty on Monday to see so many smiling faces. Many children were obviously happy to see their friends and classmates after the fortnight break. Speaking to many students in the past two days, it appears they had a lovely Easter and an wonderful holiday.
Parent – Teacher Interviews
It was wonderful to see so many parents availing of the opportunity to meet with their child’s class teacher in the final week of Term One. The decision to move these meetings to earlier in the year was seen as favourable by the staff. The parents I spoke to were happier with the Term One meeting, rather than at the end of Term Two. So too were they satisfied with the meetings being in the school hall. I welcome any other feedback in relation to the Parent – Teacher interviews. Please email if you wish to share your thoughts: firstname.lastname@example.org
Many of the children look resplendent in their Winter uniform. One week’s grace is normally given at the commencement of Term Two. You will be informed when the uniform is expected to be worn by all students.
Feedback About Immunisation
During the term holidays, Mrs Nagy began the audit to ensure that we have a copy of every child’s AIR Immunisation History Statement. She has completed all of the Junior Primary classes and is currently working through the students in Year 2. In instances where copies of children’s statements were required, Mrs Nagy contacted parents. Mrs Nagy was extremely grateful as to how quickly parents scanned and emailed the documentation. Thank you to those parents for being so obliging. It certainly makes Mrs Nagy’s job easier when she doesn’t have to contact people repeatedly.
Holy Week Liturgies
It was wonderful to see the numbers of parents, grandparents and visitors following the journey with our students during the Holy Week liturgies on the last day of Term One. Thank you once again for those who were able to support such an important event in our school calendar.
Pupil Free Day
Please be aware that there will be no school for students on Friday May 31 as the staff have a Professional Development day. This day has been planned to provide a four day break, as the WA Day public holiday occurs on Monday June 3. Please mark the Friday in your calendar if you have to make arrangements for your child to be minded.
From this term onwards, the newsletter will be sent out fortnightly, rather than weekly. It will be distributed during Weeks 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 of term.
Mrs Swann returns from her travels on Monday next week. I have enjoyed my time in the Acting Principal role, but I look forward to returning to my ‘cherubs’ in Year 5G. Enjoy the week ahead.
