A Message from the Principal – Issue 21

Oct 16, 2019

Dear Parents, Children and Friends,

I warmly welcome our students and families back to Francis Jordan for the final term of 2019. I trust you all had a wonderful and relaxing break with your families.

Staff Professional Development Day on Reading
On Monday our staff joined together to continue our focus on improving student outcomes in reading. Much of the day was spent analysing our data and celebrating the incredible achievements of our children in reading over the last six months. There are a large proportion of our children in our school who have already met the high reading targets we have set for them in each year level. This is a testament to the strong partnerships between teachers, parents and teachers.

The last part of our day involved teachers again setting individual goals for each child in their classroom in regards to reading. Each teacher will share these with their students and assist them to map out and implement strategies to reach them. We again look forward to your support at home in ensuring each and every child reaches their potential. We are very proud of the improvement our children have made in this very important learning area.

World Teachers’ Day
Next Friday is World Teachers’ Day, a chance to celebrate our teachers who create opportunities for their students, empower the minds of our young people and proudly teach our future generation of leaders, creators and innovators. What a wonderful day for you to celebrate your child’s teacher by doing something special for them, such as writing them a letter or card and letting them know why they are appreciated, We thank each of our teachers and education assistants who, at Francis Jordan, are known to go out of their way to put in 110% in providing a safe, supportive and welcoming environment for each and every student.

P&F Quiz Night
I would like to warmly invite our families to join us for our Quiz Night, scheduled for Friday, 1 November. Please save the date in your diary as this promises to be a wonderful community event.

IT Dynamics
This week we welcome Daniel Sheiles to our school. Daniel works for IT Dynamics who will provide our school with our IT support from this term. IT Dynamics will provide the school with onsite support, 24-hour monitoring, IT support service desk, all infrastructure installations, supports and backups, parent and staff training sessions; as well as working onsite during designated times in the week. IT Dynamics have an excellent reputation and support a large number of our Catholic primary schools.

IT Dynamics have spent a considerable part of the school holidays improving and strengthening our network to ensure it complies with best practice. Daniel will be working with us on Monday and Thursday mornings up until lunchtime; however he is with us for the full first week of school to support our staff and students with their devices and network. I know you will join me in welcoming Daniel to our school.

Kindergarten & Pre Kindy 2020
We still have a number of places available for Kindergarten and Pre Kindy 2020. May I ask our families to please see Mrs Nagy in the office to book an appointment to have your Kindergarten or Pre Kindy interview as offers are currently being made and numbers are being confirmed.

Congratulations Mrs Hawley!
We are proud to announce that Mrs Hawley has given birth to her precious son, Beau David Hawley. I know you will join me in congratulating Danni and Rob on becoming parents and we look forward to meeting little Beau.
