Project Compassion 2019
Water – Source of Life
This year, the Student Council has decided to focus the school’s Project Compassion efforts on helping school students in the Solomon Islands. Many children must travel considerable distances to get safe drinking water while at school.
$50.00 will buy five metres of guttering to attach to buildings that will then collect clean rain water for storage in tanks. $5.00 will buy a tap to attach to the rainwater tank. In this way, each $55.00 donated will ensure school children can have safe drinking water at school.
What a great way to help those in the world who are less fortunate than us!

Curriculum News Issue 07
Term One Teacher/Parent Interviews
In previous years, we have conducted parent interviews at the end of term two along with the Semester One Report. In response to parent and staff feedback, it has been decided that interviews will be conducted at the end of term one. We believe this will provide a more timely opportunity for parents to speak with teachers about their child’s progress. We are in the process of developing an online booking system rather than having sheets on classroom windows. You will be notified once a date is set and the booking system is ready.
Regards,
Gloria Ward

New Families Issue 07
New Families Morning Tea
Recently, new families to the school from Pre-Primary to Year 6 were welcomed to the school with a morning tea. Parents gathered for prayer in the Prayer Garden. The new students then made their way with their parents to plant shrubs in the garden. This continues the tradition of the founding families of the school (Currambine Catholic Primary School) who were given small plants in pots by the founding Principal, Sue Groves. Families were asked to take the small plants home and tend to them until they grew to a size where they could be planted in the school grounds. Our beautiful environment is due to many of these beautiful plants that have matured to the size they are today. After the planting ceremony, parents and students enjoyed a lovely morning tea. Thank you to the Class Reps who were able to attend and make themselves known to our new families. Photos of the morning are shown below.

P & F News Issue 07
Easter Egg Raffle
Easter is approaching which means so is our Easter Egg raffle, which will be drawn on the last day of Term 1. We are asking that each child bring in an Easter egg of some kind (or an alternative like a colouring in book and pencils) which will be put towards the raffle while a portion of eggs we receive will be donated to St Vincent De Paul.
Thank you to those families that have gotten in early and already donated an Easter Egg.
Tickets for the Easter raffle will be sent via the Kiddy Post soon. Tickets are 50 cents each. Buy as many as you want!

Francis Jordan Netball Club (FJNC) Issue 07
A Big heartfelt thank you to Mrs Swann, FJCS and OSH for allowing us court time between 2.30 and 4:30pm Tuesdays/Thursdays, this is usually a big expense for clubs, so your kindness is much appreciated!
Great seeing all our FJNC athletes training with such enthusiasm and joy last week!
Athletes please complete any toilet breaks, fill your water bottle up and slap on sunscreen before training commences. Our awesome Volunteer FJNC Coaches and Managers are looking forward to seeing all girls with their best smiles, abilities and attitudes at training on the courts this week.
Outstanding payments
We have registered players who have not paid their fees, and we would ask you to please contact us if you would like to set up a payment plan, francisjordannc@yahoo.co.uk. As we are a not for profit organisation, we ask you to please submit payment before the end of this week if it has been an admin delay. Our bank details are BSB 036-231, A/C 169 262, pls put your daughter’s name and surname on description. Emails with details will be sent out this week.

Important Dates for your FJNC Calendar
Compulsory Managers Meeting 27 March & Coaches Meeting 28 March:
Information sessions for all JNA Club coaches and managers are compulsory. If you are going on someone’s behalf, please write your name and their name in brackets when you sign in. This is a useful session and explains how games are played, umpired, the rules, convened and expected behaviour of all participants – players, coaches, managers and parents.
29 March 2019: Cake Sale at FJCS run by Senior U/11 team: Please could all FJNC players bring in something nut free and delicious to sell to the canteen before school starts as the cake sale will be run at recess. Last year was a fabulous turnout for St Patrick’s Day, perhaps this year we could have a sporting theme (hopefully netball features) for those who love baking! Bought goods are very much appreciated as we know it’s a big ask to bake, so please don’t feel you have to bake! If you can’t bake or buy goods, we would appreciate a small cash donation. This is a voluntary exercise and we don’t plan to do too many fundraisers this year, this cake sale is more for the girls and school’s enjoyment, everyone loves a good old-fashioned cake sale and it’s nearly holidays!
