Project Compassion 2019
I sing the praises of parents at Francis Jordan regularly. I have taught at 8 schools and I have never witnessed such generosity from families as I have at Francis Jordan Catholic School. Once again, the kindness of families was evident in our recent Project Compassion appeal. As you know, we were aiming to provide water collection systems for schools in the Solomon Islands. We raised an incredible total of $2 274.40. This means we have provided 41 systems. THANK YOU for such outstanding generosity.

Strategies for Improving Reading Comprehension
After the Term One Parent Interviews, it has come to our attention that providing an information session on how to improve reading comprehension may be beneficial. In the coming weeks, I will set a date for this to happen.
In the meantime, here is one strategy that you could try at home which will help with children being able to retell information they have read.
- Allow your child to read the text out loud (or part of the text)
- Once they have read the text, go back to the beginning and ask them to read the first sentence.
- After reading this sentence, ask them to explain what the sentence means – they MUST begin the sentence with the sentence starter “I think this means……”
- Continue this process for a number of sentences.
- To add more depth, add the following part to the strategy – “I think this means……. and I know this because…..…”

Francis Jordan Netball Club (FJNC) Issue 11
Welcome back – We’re Excited to be on court!
We hope all families enjoyed their holidays and had a great Easter! First term holidays are so important for us to rest and restore our energy for a busy second term, I hope you’re all ready and buzzing with renewed energy for a fabulous season ahead.
It was great to see all our FJNC girls on the courts in your new dresses – you all looked amazing and we received many compliments from our fellow clubs and from our JNA volunteers. Thank you to all the girls who bought our new hair ties and caps too, they looked great with our new uniform! Please remember to pop your payment through to our FJNC bank account.
Managers please remember to check your scorecards at the end of every game – the scorecard needs to be signed by the manager/coach, the scorer and captain. Please also remember if anyone plays up from another FJNC team, the player’s name needs to be written on the back of the scorecard.
Rotations – not necessary for U7 and U8s, but it is advisable throughout the season in order for girls to get an understanding for each position. It is probably best not to rotate girls too much through the game as they will get confused. We recommend two positions for each game, first half in one; second half in the other, if possible. Please let us know if you need help using the rotations spreadsheet distributed by Mark last term.
FJNC Corkers and Curly Ties
Corkers (1 for $7) and Curly ties (2 for $10) in our colours which make the outfit pop! We only have a limited number, please send an email to francisjordannc@yahoo.com.au to secure your purchases please make payment to our bank account or cash on the day: BSB 036-231, A/C 169 262

Below is some valuable information for new parents and any changes that have been made to policies or procedures at OSHClub.
- At NO TIME are your children out of our sight. We pride ourselves on being vigilant and our priority is the safety and well-being of your child.
- Please understand that from 2.40 pm we have children arriving after school to OSHCLub. It is essential we are greeting each child, ensuring that they are safely within our boundaries and we are often busy collecting smaller children from their class room.
- Due to the above please understand our need for you to contact us between 7-9 am or after 3 pm in the afternoon to discuss any issues.
- If we do not answer your call, we are involved with the children. Please leave a text message and we will get back to you asap.
- If you have any difficulties or problems with your Account, you must contact our Customer Service Accounts number on 1300 395 735.
Changes To Cancellations And Late Booking Fees
- Our Cancellation Policy is 48 hours before the start of the session that you required the booking. If you have not cancelled your booking in that time frame you will be charged the fee for the session. No additional fees will be incurred.
