First Communion Commissioning Mass
If your child received their First Holy Communion at one of the Masses in September, you are expected to take your child to one of the Parish Masses this coming weekend. Your child will receive their First Holy Communion certificate at the Mass. Mass times are as follows:
Saturday – 6.00pm
Sunday – 8.00am, 10.00am or 5.00pm
Student Council fundraising day
As you may remember, the Student Council conducted a fundraising day at the end of Term Three to support the Perth Children’s Hospital Cancer Ward. The reason for this decision centred on the fact that the Year 6 cohort went through with Charlie Ryan, w
ho passed away at the beginning of Year One. A huge THANK YOU to all families for your very generous support of this initiative. A huge range of games and toys were donated, as was a total of $703.70. The Student Council will now use the toys / money to create toy hampers. They will then visit PCH and present the hampers to the staff in the Cancer ward to distribute to children who would greatly benefit from a toy hamper. Once again, thank you for your incredible generosity.
Thanksgiving / Graduation Mass
Last year, feedback was sought regarding the timing of the end of year Graduation / Thanksgiving Mass. Thank you to the parents who contributed their feedback. There were three lines of thinking: keeping the Mass at the evening timeslot of 6.00pm; changing the Mass to within school hours; Having a Thanksgiving Mass during the day and a separate Graduation Mass in the evening for Year 6 families. Based on the feedback, it has been decided for this year to keep the Mass at 6.00pm. When Mr Dunning begins in 2020, the decision will be then reviewed for future Masses.

Curriculum Focus
Reading continues to be our whole school curriculum focus this term. We have started the term with a professional development day which looked at the data teachers have collected throughout the year from PM Benchmarks assessments and IPI (Informal Inventory Prose) testing. Analysis of the data has allowed us to set goals for our students and tailor the literacy blocks according to the specific skills students need. In the coming week, students will be informed of what their individual goals are for this term.
Community Library
I would like to thank Mr Fuller (Year 2W, Henry’s dad) for volunteering to make, not one, but two community libraries for our school. This will allow students in the junior and upper primary to access the library boxes to donate, swap and share books. These boxes will provide another opportunity for students to get excited about books and further their love of literature. I will keep you updated on construction progress and installation dates.
Communication Policy
This year we have been working on refining the way we communicate information to our school community. The introduction of Class Dojo has proven to be a successful method for teachers and parents to communicate class related information. All other school related information will continue to go out via the fortnightly newsletter or placed on our school website. This year we have created a communication policy to ensure that our communication methods and processes remain consistent. If you would like to view the policy, it is on the school website HERE
