An email was sent to families after our AGM last night to advise our community that I will be taking 12 months leave from Francis Jordan Catholic School next year. After careful reflection and consideration, I have have made the difficult decision to step away from the busy role of Principal for 12 months to take some well-earned long service leave, and professional renewal leave.
CEWA will be undertaking the process to appoint a suitable candidate who will fill the role of Principal at Francis Jordan Catholic School as a short-term appointment during the 12 months while I am on leave.
There is still much to do as we bring this busy school year to a close and please be reassured that my complete commitment to this beautiful school, our students, staff and families remains as we finish our year together. I trust 2019 will be another successful school year for all staff, students and families at Francis Jordan and I will continue to keep the school community in my prayers during my year away. I will look forward to returning in 2020, to continue in the role that I love.

I thank all parents and staff who attended our AGM last night. It was wonderful to have such a strong representation from our parent community nominating to take up membership on both our Board and P&F. This year our positions for Board Membership were decided by vote. We were fortunate to have nominations put forward by eight parents who were willing to share their skills and be part of our Board. I sincerely thank all those parents who put forward their nomination. I especially wish to thank our outgoing Board members, Guy Paragalli, Tricia Anthony, Danielle Oliphant and Devin Martin, for their valuable contributions and commitment to our board over their term of membership.

Calling for volunteers – we need your help!
Our students really enjoy participating in the Commonwealth Bank School Banking program and to keep this program running we need your help.
The program requires a volunteer School Banking Co-ordinator to facilitate the banking and distribution of School Banking rewards. This only takes a small amount of your time one day a week and the Commonwealth Bank will provide support in how to run the program. Your help with the program will greatly benefit students as they develop vital saving skills and also help our school with fundraising.
If you are interested in volunteering for this program, please contact Mrs Manners.
Congratulations to our Recent GOLD SLIP Recipients.

During our Religion lessons this term, the children in 2W have been discussing the beauty of God’s creations. After talking about the beauty of nature, we went outside, laid down on the grass and looked up into the beautiful, big, blue sky. Some children saw birds, butterflies and even dragonflies fly over them. The children took a mental picture and then came inside to sketch what they saw. Some children had branches from trees poking into the sides of their view, others had some clouds and birds. The following week we painted our drawings and added them to our classroom wall under the heading ‘Our Beautiful World’.
Afterwards, we started talking about how different landscapes can be jaw dropping. We searched ‘Amazing Landscapes’ and looked at a variety of landscapes from all around the world. We talked about how lucky we are and how we should thank God every day for our beautiful world. The children then had an opportunity to create their own landscape! We planned, designed and created our own mini landscapes in some shoeboxes. The result was amazing!

Classroom News – 5W
This semester in Design and Technologies we had to design our own asteroid shelters to protect our class from an imaginary hit by an asteroid. Our class was divided into groups between two and five students.
Our shelters had to be the same size as our classroom (length, width and height). This task consisted of many challenges such as having enough food for a month and also considering types of food, water, sleeping quarters, clean air, heating and cooling.
We also found it challenging organising ourselves as to which design would we go with. A combination of different designs was the way to go, that way everyone had a say and contributed to the shelter.
We all enjoyed the task and learnt a lot about working as a team to ensure it was completed on time.

FRANCIS JORDAN NETBALL CLUB SPRING NEWSLETTER ROUND 6
Another round of netball games was played by our six Spring teams on Tuesday November 13 at Joondalup Arena. Here’s what some of our Coaches had to say:
U/7 Hurricanes Another great match was played by our little ones. Maddie was a superstar shooter, Zari you were finding space and calling for the ball so well. Heidi and Marie Clare had great defense. The intercepts by Heidi and Mackenzie were amazing. Mackenzie you sped around the court. Robyn you were doing a great job with your centre passes and Gabriella I loved how you were in the right place at the right time to catch the ball. Faith fabulous work in the goal circle helping your team mates and Stella I loved how you zipped around the courts helping all your team members. A special thanks to Natasha Miles who stepped in to be the coach as my voice was still not 100% better. Anna
U/8 Shooting Stars The girls played a good game and I was so proud of them for sharing the ball with each other. Player of the Match went to Jemma Bank-Waddell and Most Improved went to Toni-Lee McVeigh. Odette
U/8 Emeralds Another solid game played by our Emeralds, with our Player of the Match being Braely Turner who was superb in both goal circles. In the first half Braely scored some great goals while playing GS and in the final quarter she was superb in the defensive goal circle. Claire
